I’ve figured out that even with life, work, homeschooling (of course off for the summer), short road trips, etc, that everything has a place in life. I decided that I’m going to get back into trying to lose weight. This time, I think it’s hitting home that I need to stick with it. As of July 1st, I’m committing myself to making my life better!!
I’m not doing anything too drastic like cutting out everything that I normally eat, but then I am at the same time. I decided back in January that I was going to Go Vegan! Yes, other black vegans do exist. I had to do my research too! So, since then, I haven’t been fully committed, but I have made a few small changes to things that I buy so that one day when I wake up, I’ll be fully vegan.
Small changes I’ve made so far:
- I buy vegan cheese, CHAO brand to be exact.
- I buy vegenaise or another brand of vegan mayo.
- I buy vegan sugar cookies.
These are very small, but it will add up in the long run. I’ve found that everything we eat, especially processed, can be altered using vegan products.
I started this past Tuesday eating some vegan nut rolls. We normally go to Bulk Nation at least once a week to stock up on dry goods like spices, nuts, candy, etc. This place is awesome!! I can’t wait until they open here, but I digress. My mom usually gets these balls from Betty Lou’s that she eats for breakfast. They have different flavors but I never knew they made a vegan one until she told me. I picked up some and totally forgot about them. I found them. All I can say is, I’m woke!
For breakfast, I’ve been eating one with some black detox tea, following this up with 20 oz of hydrogenated alkaline water. Alkaline water is also something new that I had started drinking as of this year. I had never heard of it before, but the taste of it (depending on the brand) is pretty good. Way cleaner and smoother than spring, tap, purified, or distilled water…to me.
Tracking my meals is becoming important to me, because I’m making it important. Like I said earlier, everything has a place in life. We just have to make time and room for it.
Every day since Money I’ve been getting on the scale to see if there’s been any progress. I know in the beginning of any weight loss regimen, water weight is the first to go. I’m cool with that, because hey, it’s still leaving my body. The tea is a detox tea so I know my kidneys and liver are being flushed out and with the added hydrogenated alkaline water, I am going to the bathroom constantly. I’ve also been consistently using the restroom on a daily basis as well, and that’s been since January as well.
Scale Readings thus far:
- Tuesday, July 3, I was 271.2. I knew I had gained weight because I’ve been eating crazy junk food at work.
- Wednesday, July 4, I was 269.2. When I read that on the scale, I was kind of shocked because that was 2lbs off the bat.
- Thursday, July 5, I see 266.2. Wait. One. Minute! Am I seeing this right? Is that 5 lbs down in 2 days? Oh my!
I am eating regular food, but now I get the importance of drinking water. Now I get the importance of tracking what you eat…even down to gum and peppermints.
Now I understand to take it day by day. I have no set goal in mind of “I want to lose 90 lbs by the end of the year.” That’s no longer my mentality. If it happens and it will, I’ll be ecstatic to see the number of my dreams (lol), even if it takes me a year or 2.
Small scale victories add up!
